Accident Insurance

An accident insurance policy provides financial protection in the event of an accidental injury. It can help cover medical expenses, lost wages, and other costs associated with an accident.

Accident Insurance

What happens if you get injured or sick, and that illness or injury needs to be treated with medicine? That's where accident insurance comes in.

Accident insurance can help pay the cost of medical bills and other expenses related to injuries sustained in an accident. It's a good idea for anyone who lives alone, since it doesn't require any regular payments like a health plan does.

How does accident insurance help with medical bills?

Accident insurance can help with all these expenses. We've designed our Accident Protection Plan to provide you with peace of mind and financial security in case you're injured in an accident.

What Does an Accident Policy Help Cover?

Your Accident Protection Plan pays for many things, including:

  • Doctor's fees, hospital stays, and prescription drugs covered by your health insurance plan. (if purchased from a network provider)
  • Lost wages following your injury or illness
  • Funeral expenses if someone dies as a result of their injuries
  • Home care, such as home modifications and equipment
  • Transportation costs if you cannot drive yourself due to your injuries

Certain specific circumstances may allow an Aflac Accident Policyholder to be covered for vision loss or dental problems caused by an injury. The policyholder may also be eligible for additional payment amounts under two optional riders available with some policies. The Vision Rider provides assistance with the cost of glasses or contact lenses. The Dental Rider provides coverage for oral surgery if it’s required following a covered injury.

Is Accident Insurance Worth It?

Accident insurance is a good idea if you can afford it. It is not intended to be a substitute for health insurance, disability insurance or life insurance. It does have some advantages over these types of policies, but it also has some disadvantages.

If you have accident coverage in addition to health, disability and life coverage then you will be protected from the financial impact of an unexpected injury or illness. This can remove any waiting period before benefits begin. You’ll also have access to medical care immediately following an accident without worrying about paying out-of-pocket expenses. Many plans include direct reimbursement from participating providers so that there is no need for paperwork or submitting claims after visiting the doctor.

If you already have good health insurance through work then accident insurance may not be necessary. Your Aflac insurance rep can help you understand the coverage of your current health insurance policy.

Who is Personal Accident Insurance for?

If you are self-employed, or if you have a full-time job and want to protect your income in case of a personal accident, Aflac's Personal Accident Insurance is for you. It can help shield your family from the loss of your ability to earn money by paying out claims when you are unable to work due to an accident.

An accident policy is a great way to supplement your health insurance.

If you're a student, an accident policy is also a great way to supplement your health insurance. Accidents happen when people least expect them—while jogging, riding a bike or cleaning up around the house. While this type of coverage won't pay for every injury, it can help with medical bills and lost wages. It can also help with funeral costs should someone pass away unexpectedly.

An accident policy can help cover the cost of a caregiver if you have to miss work to care for yourself after an injury. It can also cover modifications to your home so that you are able to live independently despite any physical limitations. An accident policy may even be able to provide power wheelchairs or other adaptive equipment at reduced rates.
